The principal goal of the association is to teach dog owners how to train their dogs to become well-mannered members of their households and communities. CTA offers agility, freestyle, rally, and obedience training ranging from beginner classes to those leading to titled competition.

What is your primary product or service?
Helping people to train their dogs..
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We had a two-year old rather ubprincipled Dalmation who needed training and joined a Canine Training Association class in Hyattsville. Working with this dog and many others at all training levels, that became our major hobby. I became an American Kennel Club obedience judge in 1971 and also became the president and Training Director of CTA many years ago.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our organization has many experienced instructors, and, as an all volunteer group, keep the training costs very low.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have classes in Beltsville and in Davidsonville, with no plans to expand to other areas.
Provide detailed directions to your location
To get our (main) location at 6826 Distribution Drive take the the Beltway (I 495, I 95) to Exit 23, Kenilworth Avenue, and go north 4.2 miles to Distribution Drive. Turn left and go about 1/4 mile to our building on the right.
To Davidsonville from Route 214 (Central Avenue) turn south on Queen Anne Bridge Road (the one in Anne Arundal County) and go 1 mile to the fenced Davidsonville Family Recreation Center (at Number 3789), enter on the left and go to our building at the top of the hill.
What type of payments do you accept?
For beginning obedience and Puppy classes the entry can be made through our CTA web site (ctadogs.org) via e-bay. Other fees are made by check or cash.
Which areas do you service?
We have people coming from all parts of Maryland, and even a few from Virginia.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
It is a hobby organization, managed by a board of directors. No Board memberm or instructor gets paid.
What are your hours of operation?
Most classes are in the evenings, every day except Saturday in Beltsville, but there are daytime freestyle and obediences classes on Saturday and some daytime agility classes during the week.
In Davidsonville the classes are evenings, Monday through Thursday.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
How pleased the owner is with the dog's improved behavior
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
A trained dog is a better dog.
